Summer Term

Our topic this term is ‘Amazing Animals, Awesome Oceans’. We will be finding out about animals around the world and we will be exploring their habitats and microhabitats. We will also be thinking about how we can protect our oceans and animals.

In Science this term we are looking at plants. We have been studying seeds and bulbs closely to find similarities and differences.

We used modelling clay to show the amazing life cycle of the butterfly.

We are learning about life cycles in Science. We looked at the life cycle of a chicken today, starting with the egg or was it the chicken that came first?!

We are going to be writing some instructions in English. Today, we worked together to come up with a plan of “How to Catch a Dragon”.

In Science we have been learning about the importance of hygiene and washing our hands properly. We used pepper (as our germs) and washing up liquid to investigate how soap can help to prevent the spread of germs.

We enjoyed our ‘No Pens Day’ lego challenges this morning. We also had great fun using dance and drama to retell the story of Rama and Sita.

We enjoyed our visit from the National Grid today. We learnt all about the new T pylons and the work they are doing to carry electricity to our homes.

This week in Science we have been learning about Charles Macintosh and testing materials to see which is the most waterproof.

We have been investigating addition in Maths.

In Computing we are creating our own programmes using Scratch.

In Science, we continue to investigate materials. Today, we tested different materials to decide if we could squash, twist bend or stretch them.

In Science, we have been investigating materials. Today, we tested how stretchy different fabrics are. We decided that lycra is the best fabric for a PE kit.
