Vision and Values

Our vision at Winscombe Primary School is to be a nurturing and caring environment for all those who interact with us. With our support, the children will flourish, both personally, socially and academically, leaving them equipped to thrive as individuals, support others and blossom in the 21st century. We know that everyone can achieve and improve from their starting point and a growth mind set is essential to promote this. We will always strive to empower every member of our community to be the very best version of themselves.

Our chosen values have been selected from our stakeholders’ contributions and this plan supports the aims of the National Curriculum: to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. Further, it underpins our new strapline: C.A.R.E.

Our children will…

    • Care
    • Aspire
    • Respect
    • Excel

We will: nurture respectful, active learners that will flourish, excel and aspire to make a positive difference to their communities and beyond.

Care recognises every child’s right to learn in a safe environment and one where their individual wellbeing is cared for so they can achieve their best.

Aspiration can help give life and work purpose and meaning. We want our children to hope and aim high towards their aspirations.

We encourage respect at all times and this value is fundamental to our behaviour rules in the school. We expect everyone to accept and respect each other’s individual uniqueness. The respect in our relationships builds feelings of trust, safety, and wellbeing.

We encourage our children to excel in many ways, providing an environment where they are able to achieve their very best and push their expectations – we believe anything is possible.

These values can be seen explicitly around our school and exemplified by children’s work.

They are also underpinned by explicit teaching of our Learning Powers:

  • Resilience
  • Co-operation
  • Reflective
  • Curious

Our School Ethos

    • A positive, welcoming atmosphere that fosters collaboration

    • A rich, innovative, creative curriculum that meets the needs of all

    • Safe, secure and stimulating learning environments

    • High standards and expectations in behaviour and achievements
