Junior Leadership

At Winscombe Primary we have 3 pupil voice groups, these are our School Council, Our Eco Council and our Digital Leaders groups.

School Council

Our School Council is made up of two pupils from each class from Year 1 to Year 6. Our children are voted into these positions as well, teaching us all about the values of democracy.

We meet every fortnight with Mrs Richardson and share suggestions from each class on how to make our school even better!

This year we are researching new Playground Markings, new Class Signs and leading an assembly on how to use our playground equipment.

Eco Council

Our Eco leaders are voted into committee each year, after putting their application forms in to see how they would like to make our school more eco-friendly.

We are very proud last year when we achieved the Bronze Eco Award!

   

This year we are continuing to use our school allotment to grow and cook our own!

 

We are also thrilled that we now have Forest School sessions from Yeo Valley Forest Schools each week to make the most of our outside space!

Digital Leaders Group

Our Digital Leaders are a group of children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.  They advocate good behaviour with technology and support teachers and pupils with their digital skills.

Tasks and activities they carry out include:

    • Managing equipment such as Ipads and Chromebooks
    • Supporting other children in lessons
    • Setting up technology for whole school assemblies
    • Promoting online safety
    • Helping to create digital resources such as PPT quizzes, QR codes and videos.
    • Delivering online safety assemblies
    • Sharing information with parents via the school newsletter

Crew Captains

Our Crew Captains represent our four Crew Teams across the school:

 CAMERON                         BRUNEL                              MATTHEW                             CONCORDE

Our Crew Captains are chosen from our Year 6 class and as such are expected to be role models for the rest of the school.

They help collect and share our Crew Points in Celebration Assembly each week and also help and encourage children in their crews to shine!

Our Crew Captains also help lead out each crew at Sports Days to their chosen theme music – always a highlight in our school calendar!
